05 — Frequently Asked
Common questions about lot clearing, forestry mulching, and site prep for new home builds in the Blue Ridge foothills.
On average our CAT 308E2CR with a rotary disc brush cutter mulches 1–3 acres per day depending on density, slope, and tree size. Light overgrowth goes faster; heavy hardwood stands take longer. We'll give you a realistic day-count in your estimate.
Forestry mulching grinds brush, saplings, and understory directly into the soil as a protective mulch layer — no burn piles, no hauling, no bare dirt. Traditional clearing roots out everything and leaves bare ground that needs seeding. Mulching is faster, cleaner, and better for erosion control.
By default we clear brush, saplings, and understory while leaving mature, healthy trees standing — you tell us which trees to keep. If you need full stump and root removal for a build pad, we handle that too as part of site preparation.
Mulched lots are ready for building, pasture, fencing, driveways, or just a usable yard. The mulch layer suppresses regrowth and holds the soil while you plan next steps. For a new home build we can grade a clean pad to your builder's spec.
No. Most owners aren't present. We walk the property with you first to flag what stays and what goes, then handle the rest. You'll get progress photos when the job's done.
Mulching actually handles wet ground well — the tracks spread weight and the mulch layer we lay down prevents rutting. Heavy rain may delay grading or stump work, but brush clearing usually continues. We'll reschedule only when conditions would damage your property.
Yes. We install silt fencing and erosion-control measures on sloped lots and any site within a regulated buffer. This is often required before a build permit is issued, and we fold it into your quote.
We're based in Todd, NC and work throughout the Blue Ridge foothills — typically within a 60-mile radius. For larger jobs we'll travel further; just ask in the estimator and we'll confirm.
